Muscle Scraping
Officially known as instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), scraping is a theraputic technique that uses a smooth-edged tool made of stainless steel, plastic, or ceramic to apply controlled pressure across the skin, fascia, and muscles to break up scar tissue, adhesions, and tight muscle knots that restrict movement. This is often used for reduced stiffness in joints, decrease muscle soreness, and speed up recovery time!
Cupping
An ancient alternative therapy that uses suction cups on the skin to relieve muscle tension, ease pain, and improve blood circulation. A cup (made of glass, silicone, bamboo, or plastic) is placed on the skin in areas of soreness or tight muscles. Unlike a regular massage where pressure is pushed into the muscles, the skin, fascia, and top muscle layers are pulled upward into the cup with suction. This draws fresh blood and oxygen to the area to help loosen tight tissues, reduce pain, and increase recovery time.
